Some wonderful girls in my mom's ward made a Journal Jar for her. This is just a picture of one I found online...the one they made is much cuter and more colorful. What a fabulous idea! Her home teacher has done someting similar with a clipboard that hangs over her bed. For the clipboard, you write the answers on colorful pieces of paper that are then kept and compiled by him and his sweet wife. For the Journal Jar, you just pick out a question, she answeres it, and you write her answer in a notebook on her dresser...(or if you want, her real journal in her nightstand droor.) All of this will help me make a more accurate life history for her grandkids to enjoy. So if you are planning on visiting her, please look to this journal jar or clipboard for prompts in conversation with mom. Some of the things she says are pretty funny! For Sharon, a while ago she recalled the exploding green bean incident while canning with you! And for Verona, Last Memorial Day, she told me that her and Dad had started that picnic tradition and asked if I could drive her there for it! Her short term memory is sparatic...but long term lives on!

What a great idea Kristen. Your mom is amazing! Thank you for sharing, very inspirational.
Here is a comment left by another friend in my email...
Seeing the notes about Sharon and Verona reminded me of the time Trevor and I went down there on Valentine's day and sprayed her hair red. The problem was that I forgot to bring my camera, so never got pictures. Trevor and I used to visit her a lot when he had to go to the doctor every 3 months. Debbie and Verona and I talked last week about going down for a day to see your mom. We will have to bring Sharon as well and make it a day.
Love,Nikki

What a sweet idea. And what a nice things for those girls to do. I know she said she had the BEST ward, and it looks like they're proving it. We hope to come by and see your Mom when we come to the valley again. We'll look for the clipboard or Journal jar when we come. Thanks for keeping us posted.

Nancy, I am a friend of your daughter Kristen. I just have to let you know how much I love and appreciate her. I was just released from Primary President and she was my Nursery leader. I never worried one bit about our nursery. She ALWAYS had everything covered. I now know where she gets her amazing qualities from. What a great example of love, courage, and determination you are. Thanks for raising such a wonderful daughter. Love, Kristi Whetten
